It is walking a life of love— in kindness and humility, with respect and honesty, facing reality with sober courage, embodying the truth as it is revealed to us – by the great mystery that is all around. This painting illustrates the path of Mino-Pimatisiwin (The Good Life, in Cree). Footsteps lead to a tipi, a symbol of spiritual sanctuary, ceremony, and home. The stars gather at the tipi’s peak, representing ancestors watching over us. The water reflects the sky, reminding us that all life on Earth exists because of sunlight and water. An eagle soars in the sky, embodying the all-seeing vision of true love. Set near the Rocky Mountains, this piece reflects the beauty of the land that is home. It honours the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy, Stoney Nakota, and Tsuu T’ina Nations. Mohkinstsis—now a shared home to countless peoples of all walks of life, including the Métis Nation of Alberta.

These beings are living and full of life, and this painting is an acknowledgement of the spirit & heart that abides in all things—especially in the mountains and forests where we and all our non-human kin live and play.
